Psalms 72:1-4 (NLT) 1 Give your love of justice to the king, O God, and righteousness to the king’s son. 2 Help him judge your people in the right way; let the poor always be treated fairly. 3 May the mountains yield prosperity for all, and may the hills be fruitful. 4 Help him to defend the poor, to rescue the children of the needy, and to crush their oppressors.
Over the years I have been very critical of President Obama. I have never been against him but have always wanted more from him. I felt like he was dodging the issues that concerned our community the most. Now as I see how he is securing his legacy and taking on very important issues near the end of his term I believe history will remember him for the social justice work he has done. My prayer for him and any president is what the Psalmist has expressed here. When the leader takes care of the poor and oppressed God will bless the nation. We have been blessed. Compared to where we were in 2008 our nation has come a long way because there has been an effort to take care of the “least of these.”
Lord continue to guide this nation to defend the poor, to rescue the children of the needy, and to crush their oppressors.
