Deuteronomy 29:5 For forty years I led you through the wilderness, yet your clothes and sandals did not wear out.
I love what God is saying here. Every time I read it it makes me think of the James Cleveland classic, “I Don’t Feel No Ways Tired.” God brought the children of Israel through forty years of traveling and they survived. Not only did they survive but the things you would think would be destroyed from traveling, their clothes and their sandals, never wore out. While they were on the road they complained. They complained about everything they didn’t have and how hard the struggle was. Don’t we do the same thing? Because we can’t see the forest for the trees we focus on what’s in front of us rather than what God has allowed us to be a part of. People who know my schedule often say, “Now Rev. we don’t want you to get burned out!” Truly self care is important and I do my best to do it. Many don’t realize how excited I am to see all the promises God has made to me being fulfilled daily. I wake up with new life and vigorous energy every morning! My clothes have not worn out and may sandals still have soles. I don’t feel no ways tired.
Lord we thank You for giving us strength for the journey
Keep our clothes and sandals from wearing out
In Jesus Name
