Philippians 4:6-7 (NRSV)

6 Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

For many years I did not understand the peace that “surpasses all understanding.” I have been through many trials and prayed many prayers; I have seen God move many times and now I am able to rest in the midst of the storm. Many people don’t understand the peace the believer has. The suicide rate is rising among young black people because they are disconnected from God’s peace.The key to the formula Paul states, is that everything must go to God in prayer. Sing with me, 

What a peace we often forfeit

O what needless pains we bare 

All because we do not carry 

Everything to God in prayer 
Lord give us peace in the midst of the storm
