Monday, November 25, 2019: Chosen to Survive

Matthew 24:22 (AMPC)

And if those days had not been shortened, no human being would endure and survive, but for the sake of the elect (God’s chosen ones) those days will be shortened.

Meditation

Jesus here is speaking of the great tribulation. Many theologians debate wether this has taken place already, is taking place now, or will take place in the future. I am one who believes all three. Every generation has to face a great tribulation, laced with suffering, persecution, false prophets, and life or death decisions. Jesus warns of a time so horrible it is near impossible to survive. But grace and mercy for the “chosen” is available. Some who are selected by God will see a shortening of the days. God spares the elect the full potential of this trial. In other words somehow some will survive. We have witnessed the great tribulations of Rwanda, the Holocaust, the African Slave trade, Japanese internment, and countless others. I believe God has chosen us to survive.

Prayer

Lord choose us to survive!

Questions for Meditation

Have you ever thought of these historical events of persecution as great tribulations?

Have you ever thought of yourself as a survivor?

Now pray God would continue to choose you to survive!
