Riches and honor are with me,
enduring wealth and prosperity.
My fruit is better than gold, even fine gold,
and my yield than choice silver.
I walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths of justice, endowing with wealth those who love me, and filling their treasuries.
Speaking in first person in this Proverb is Wisdom. I love this proverb because of its lasting truth. Wisdom and education are not synonymous but they are similar. Everyone who is formerly educated does not necessarily have wisdom. And everyone who has wisdom is not necessarily formerly educated. Regardless it is indeed necessary and wise to be educated formerly or in-formerly if you want to be financially prosperous. A great
scholar once said, "You don't know what you don't know."
This Proverb speaks to the linkage between wealth and wisdom. Finance is one type and aspect of wisdom. Too often in African American communities we are not wise with money management, planning for our future, or building a financial legacy. Regardless of the barriers, our ancestors fought bitterly to open up pathways for us to prosper. Whether that be through a college degree or educating ourselves on how to produce wealth, it is wise to be educated. That is what God wants for us. That wisdom is available to all of us no matter who we are. Enduring wealth and prosperity is wisdom's fruit.
Lord give me wisdom so I may yield wisdom's fruit. Take me from a place of bad decisions and impulsive moves. Take away from met need for instant gratitude and impart in me wisdom. Educate me Lord. Set me on a pathway so I do not exacerbate the circumstances society tries to keep me in. Make me to progress from the place I was born to a destiny of abundance. Let wisdom be my chariot so I may have an enduring prosperity. In Jesus name.
Questions for Meditation
Do I have financial wisdom?
What is available to me that I can become more financially wise?
When God gives me wisdom which yields enduring wealth and prosperity how will I glorify God with it?
Now pray in your own words that God gives you wisdom's fruit.
