By contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against such things.
Paul here contrasts the “works of the flesh" with the fruit of the Spirit. He makes clear that not being led by the Spirit of God leads to self and socially destructive behavior. Disconnection from God leads to misery. Misery for ourselves and those around us.
Look deeply at the fruit of the Spirit. All give a sense of calm. They encourage good relationships with our sisters and brothers. They are products of peace within ourselves.
When the Spirit resides we become able to love unconditionally, have joy in the midst of trials, peace that passes all understanding, patience even when folks are working your last nerve, kindness to the stranger among us, faithfulness to God and our sisters and brothers, gentleness instead of bad attitudes, and the ability to control our worst impulses. This is the kind of fruit evident in the life of a follower of Jesus. This is what God desires.
Lord bear through me the fruit of the Spirit. Make me and mold me into the person you would have me to be. Transform me from being led by the flesh to being led by the Spirit.
In Jesus Name!
