The Lord will make you abound in prosperity, in the fruit of your womb, in the fruit of your livestock, and in the fruit of your ground in the land that the Lord swore to your ancestors to give you. The Lord will open for you his rich storehouse, the heavens, to give the rain of your land in its season and to bless all your undertakings. You will lend to many nations, but you will not borrow.
Here God promises Israel prosperity. A people God has laid claim to who have been enslaved, targeted, oppressed and scorned, are prospered by God.
I can 't help but believe that the nature of God is to prosper those who have been oppressed. To make fruitful those who have been violated. This power to resurrect is the theme of our sacred scriptures. This tendency towards redemption and reward is the point. If our life was only struggle there would be no point in living it. But struggle is only an aspect, a tool, an experience, a journey, it is not the destination. God's desire is that struggles lead us to deeper faith in the One who created us and deeper compassion and relationship with our fellow creation. It is in this place that we can bear fruit in every aspect of our lives.
I want God to bless all my undertakings. How about you?
Lord bless all of our undertakings. Bless us with fruitfulness in every aspect of our lives. Bless the work of our hands. Make us lenders and not borrowers. Make everything we have been through make sense. Open the riches of your store house so we can be fruitful and prosperous. Make us good stewards over everything you open up to us.
In Jesus Name!
